Mastering Conflict: The Case of Large-Scale Solar

In many communities, development proposals, including large-scale solar facilities, stoke partisan divisions and bitter fights that can undermine planning and decision-making processes. The Learning Lab aims to equip planners with tools to address such challenging planning issues, fostering effective public meetings that establish connections, inspire ideas, share knowledge, nurture leadership pathways, and navigate conflicts. It is structured to introduce meeting and dialogue preparation techniques, crucial facilitation skills for handling interpersonal dynamics, and how to follow-up for success. Throughout, participants will enhance their conflict management abilities, particularly in the context of large-scale solar development conflicts, through active learning, smaller group discussions, and presentations. The content, adaptable to various meeting scales from smaller groups to larger public forums, will emphasize managing intricate matters within public forums.
