Keri Butler is Vice President of Planning and Policy at the Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS). She is an executive-level professional with more than 18 years of experience in governmental practice and policy, with a focus on public art and urban design. At MAS, Keri works with a broad range of organizations on reforming urban planning and historic preservation policies to make the city more equitable, resilient, and livable. Prior to joining MAS, Keri held numerous roles at the NYC Public Design Commission (PDC), most recently as executive director, where she oversaw the agency’s review of public art and complex large-scale capital projects. At the PDC, Keri led the review of controversial monuments and commemorative installations and revised the agency's public art and monument policies to address historic inequities and support a more inclusive collection. She also led initiatives highlighting women in design, Black history, sustainable development, and public health. Currently, Keri is also a consultant for the Mellon Foundation, supporting the Monuments Project through research and grantee engagement. Keri holds a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
