Mateo Alexander is a first-year student at Columbia University MUP program with a specific concentrations in urban analytics and international development, and is an intern for Urbanomics and &Access Retail. Mateo is originally from Rochester, New York and is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) School of Individualized Study (SOIS). Mateo is also the American Planning Association Region I Representative for the National Student Representative Council Executive Committee. Mateo's specific interests inside urban planning are smart cities and urban analytics, urban futures and megatrends, behavioral economics and ontological design, new city and town international development, and underrepresented groups. Mateo is an avid believer in the power of codesign with underrepresented groups (such as youth) to create a potent and equitable future for everyone. In the future, Mateo envisions himself as a professor, research center principal investigator, urban planning consulting owner, and a real estate firm owner.
