Susannah joined the City of Memphis as the Administrator of the Office of Comprehensive Planning in 2021, where she is responsible for directing the implementation of the City’s comprehensive plan, Memphis 3.0. In this role, Susannah oversees the investment of nearly $75 million in Memphis neighborhoods through the City’s Accelerate Memphis initiative aimed at facilitating catalytic community projects through the activation of Memphis 3.0.
Previously, Susannah was Director of the Quality Public Spaces program at the Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC), a community development organization focused on strengthening the communities between and around the major medical, educational and research anchor institutions. In that role, Susannah worked collaboratively to create, maintain and activate public spaces that foster connections between people and place. Her portfolio focused on enhancing the District’s streets, parks, plazas, and green spaces – building strong platforms for a vibrant public life.
Susannah Barton received her Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the State University of New York at Buffalo and her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
