Saralee Morrissey, FAICP is the Immediate Past Chair of APA's newest Division, Public Schools + Communities, and is the first planner to be recognized as a Fellow for her work and career in K-12 school planning. She is the Founder and Principal of her consulting company, SMC, (Strategic, Meaningful, Collaborative aka Saralee Morrissey Consulting!) which focuses primarily on K-12 school facility planning including local government and development community collaboration, school concurrency, citizen engagement, and voter supported funding initiatives. Ms. Morrissey's 40-year career has included private and public sector work in Texas and Florida. Her noteworthy achievements were associated with the (then) 65,000 student school district in Volusia County (Daytona Beach) Florida where she was recognized for her contributions to state mandated intergovernmental coordination initiatives between local governments and school districts and linking school and land use planning. Saralee currently resides in Daytona Beach, Florida and serves on the Volusia County Environmental and Natural Resources Advisory Committee and is an active board member in the local League of Women Voters where she serves as Growth Management Committee Chair. She continues to be involved with the APA Public School + Communities Division and is a member of the Women and Planning Division.
