Ash Narayanan has fifteen years of experience in building sustainable and equitable transportation systems. With an education in civil and traffic engineering, his work has focused on advancing policy, funding and infrastructure that increases multimodal access, reduces traffic crashes and improves equitable outcomes for those who have been marginalized.
He served as a workgroup co-chair on the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Sustainable Transportation Advisory Council that created and implemented the state’s first driving reduction goal. He was appointed to the Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Advisory Board where he helped select projects to receive $180 million in annual funding to help build safe, resilient and equitable infrastructure in the region.
Ash currently leads efforts at SRF to help our client agencies advance their sustainability and resilience goals, including the Minnesota Carbon Reduction Plan, Resilience Improvement Plan and implementing the vehicle miles traveled (VMT) reduction target. Ash has authored the City of Saint Paul’s Climate and Resilience Plan’s transportation section, as well as helping develop the Shakopee Mdwekanton Sioux Community’s (SMSC) climate action plan. He has authored or co-authored numerous reports on advancing clean transportation, such as the Road to Clean Transportation.
