Dane County Planning & Development
Madison, WI
Olivia Parry, Senior Planner, Dane County Planning and Development Dept. has over 12 years experience working in affordable and workforce housing. In 2014, she started the Dane County Housing Initiative (DCHI), a public-private partnership with Dane County elected officials, local governments, developers, housing non-profit agencies, the financial community and residents. DCHI works to develop a network of information, research and resources; education and outreach programming, and stakeholders interested in addressing Dane County's housing crisis. As part of that work, DCHI produced a countywide Housing Needs Assessment in 2015 and 2019, in partnership with UW Madison; five annual housing summits; a website; a monthly newsletter; and, regular network meetings featuring guest speakers and panels. The Dane County Regional Housing Strategy (RHS) is an outgrowth of this work and the partnerships that developed. Over the course of 2023, 70 plus stakeholders from around Dane County gathered over 11 meetings to do regional strategic planning and developed a five-year strategic action plan to address the housing crisis, culminating in the report and strategic action plan - A Road Map to Solving Dane County's Housing Crisis: Strategic Action Plan 2024-2028.
