Lyssa Leitner, AICP has been an integral part of Washington County’s Public Works planning landscape since 2011. In her current capacity as the Planning Director for the County, Lyssa leads a dynamic team responsible for land use, transportation, and park planning. Beyond her county role, Lyssa has been a passionate educator. For ten years, she served as an adjunct faculty member at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and is a training facilitator for County diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings.
Lyssa holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Humphrey School and was honored as one of Mass Transit Magazine’s 40 under 40, recognizing their exceptional leadership and innovative contributions to the transit field. Notably, Lyssa managed the METRO Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project for a decade, a 10-mile, dedicated guideway, New Starts bus rapid transit project in the Twin Cities. She has held leadership positions in the WTS Minnesota Board including Scholarship and Recognition Director, Vice-President, and President. Her passion for transit equity, environmental stewardship, and community well-being shines through in every project she undertakes.
