Brianna Frey is a Senior Planner who leads the City of Austin Park and Recreation Department’s role in Project Connect, the transit improvement program voters approved in 2020, including Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, and anti-displacement initiatives. Her oversight includes fulfilling local, state, and federal policies centered on protecting parkland, the review of NEPA EIS Technical Reports and design roll plots, and PARD’s Youth Hostel Boathouse Feasibility Study. Her experience in community and stakeholder engagement delivers organized, thoughtful approaches to public-private partnerships. Brianna aims to work collectively with Project Connect’s partners (Austin Transit Partnership, Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the City of Austin) to strengthen existing community relationships and programs. In 2016, she earned her Master’s degree in Planning from the University of Texas at Austin. Brianna has served on the Red Line Parkway Initiative board since 2016, which is dedicated to building a vibrant 32+ mile trail and parkway along the CapMetro Red Line Commuter Rail, connecting Downtown Austin to Cedar Park and Leander. In her previous role as Director of Planning at the design and planning consulting firm, Asakura Robinson, Brianna managed ten planning and urban design staff in three offices: Austin, Houston, and Minneapolis.
