Kris Krider joined Arlington County in 2013 as supervisor for the new Center for Urban Design and Research. He has 25 years experience managing urban design, architecture and planning projects for public and private sectors in San Francisco, Portland, Cincinnati, and North Carolina. He has served as an adjunct professor at University of Cincinnati and supported design studios throughout his career. While at UC Berkeley, urban design mentors were Clare Cooper Marcus, Allan Jacobs and Michael Southworth. As the leader of the Urban Design and Research Section (Center) Kris and his team are responsible for the following:

Urban Design, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture Review
Facilitating Community Education and Engagement
Strategies and Plans for Improving Urban Environment and Public Realm
Advocacy for Architecture, Urban Design and Place Making
Support Interdivisional and Interdepartmental Teams
