David loves cities and trying to understand how they work. He has worked in the private sector and the public sector in Minneapolis and Portland. For the past few years, David has provided counsel to organizations who want to develop places and build community. He served for several years as Director of the Department of Community Planning and Economic Development for the City of Minneapolis, and before that for Schafer Richardson, a real estate development company in Minneapolis. In Portland, David worked in the City’s redevelopment agency on development and affordable housing in the Pearl District, and for a large private real estate company. David serves on the board of the Hennepin History Museum. He is a past president of the North Loop Neighborhood Association and the Minnesota Fringe Festival. David and his wife have lived in the North Loop for almost 20 years, the past few with their neighborhood famous dog.
