Yana Tukvachinski is an Interdisciplinary Specialist with FEMA’s Building Science Branch. In this role, she has been involved in efforts aimed at promoting resilience in communities across the nation, contributing to several FEMA publications and products, including Mitigation Assessment Team (MAT) reports and factsheets, as well as Guides to Expanding Mitigation (“Making the Connection to Cemeteries” and “Codes and Standards”) among others.
Prior to her position at FEMA, she worked on disaster risk reduction projects with local governments in the Philippines, served as a Preparedness Specialist with the American Red Cross, and participated in developing a handbook on child-responsive urban planning at UNICEF.
Yana holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Temple University.
