Funding opportunities for climate resilience have never before been more available, but how do you make sure you’re proposing projects that serve the breadth of community and stakeholder needs? Planners working in climate action and resilience know that in this emerging and growing space, there are a lot of competing priorities and voices at the table (or not at the table). Meanwhile, resilience-focused grant programs are growing, but each have their own complex requirements and expectations that can be challenging to navigate. There is never enough time and resources to do it all, but at this workshop, participants will engage with tools and frameworks to put their community’s best projects forward. This means developing projects that employ innovative solutions and maximize co-benefits that meet a wide range of stakeholder interests. It also includes understanding existing and customizable prioritization frameworks for selecting among potential projects to maximize benefits, buy-in, and alignment with grant opportunities. Workshop participants will engage with curated resilience project, prioritization, and funding resources and facilitated role-playing activities to build the skills to navigate this complex landscape. Project development and prioritization processes that are equitable, inclusive, and responsive to community interests will ultimately be more supported, implementable, and fundable.
