Planners in the future will be accessing great amounts of data. Data analysis is a skill all planners should support their practice on. As storytelling is inherently a core skill in planning practice, merging these 2 skills is paramount. In this session, panelists will begin telling a story throughout this session, while at the same time, sharing methodologies, tips and tricks for planners to support their storytelling with data. The session aims to generate emotions and incorporate these into the session and storytelling. This presentation aims to inspire planning practitioners to generate content with data that helps telling a story. The solutions or ideas presented include various different types of methods, software and techniques that help practitioners to look at data. In this session we will explore how to recognize underserved aspects or datapoints (which as planners we need to include to change and advance inclusive and equitable community planning), and showcase these aspects in a storytelling capacity.
