This mobile tour will be facilitated by the George Floyd Global Memorial Foundation. Community members will take participants on a pilgrimage journey through George Floyd Square (GFS). Pilgrimage journeys provide guided experiences to learn about this sacred space, to grieve, pay respect, and be inspired to pursue racial justice. Participants will hear from community members about their own experiences and the stories behind the many offerings and displays of public art within GFS, developing participants' understanding of the significance of GFS and the ongoing fight for racial justice. By coming to this sacred space with a reflective, respectful, and open heart, pilgrims take part in the protest work of remembrance. Further, pilgrimages are opportunities to inspire visitors to pursue racial justice within their own lives and communities they work in. The mobile tour will begin with a 30-minute orientation at the Pillsbury House and Theater. Participants will then journey through GFS with community guides and city representatives, experiencing the space and hearing about the various memorials, displays of public art, and ongoing work to improve the site. Following the tour, participants will return to the Pillsbury House to reflect and debrief on their experience with community members and city staff.
