Food systems planning can, in many ways, be tied back to Jerry Kaufman (1933-2013): planner, faculty member at University of Wisconsin, APA staff member, and co-founder of the Food Interest Group that became the APA Food Systems Division. Join the Division he helped to found, along with the editors and authors of a book dedicated to his memory, "Planning for Equitable Urban Agriculture in the United States: Future Directions for a New Ethic in City Building" (Springer), for a celebration of this landmark accomplishment.
Sponsored by the University at Buffalo Food Systems Planning and Healthy Communities Lab and by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this cocktail reception will feature a program on the theme "Planning for Equitable Urban Agriculture: Research, Education, and Policy," including a panel discussion with the editors and authors, as well as ample networking and celebration of the evolution of food systems planning practice.
