Kadence (Novak) Kushnir holds a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) from the University of Minnesota and has worked in a variety of public, private, and nonprofit roles focused on community engagement, active transportation, and multimodal design from the Midwest to the Gulf Coast region. Most recently, Kadence served as the Pedestrian and Bicycle Coordinator with the City of Minneapolis where they led the Winter Walking and Biking Study and presented city-led sidewalk clearing pilot programs that received funding to begin in the winter of 2024-2025.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Kadence received their B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy from St. Edward’s University and is passionate about researching the intersections between regional equity, environmental justice, and community-driven processes and coalition building, particularly in communities impacted by natural and human-made disasters and post-disaster recovery.
