Zeroing in on Your Community's Active Transportation Trends

During this panel discussion, we’ll share topline trends across the U.S. in biking, walking, and shifts away from vehicle travel to support health, climate, and safety initiatives. The panelists will share examples including how Sarasota created a plan that prioritizes bike routes, route directness, and new routes on major corridors. They will also share how the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District asked Jacobs to help them understand the existing conditions to support a trail and bridge facility to equitably meet the needs of the community, and encourage mode shift away from vehicles. We’ll also showcase StreetLight’s Active Transportation Monitor to help attendees evaluate and prioritize active transportation projects.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discover the U.S. regions leading the active transportation boom, and those lagging behind, along with discussing pedestrian and bicycle mode share trends.
  • Learn how the Sarasota/Manatee MPO set a strong foundation for a multimodal network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities connecting key destinations, transit services, and the Shared-Use Non-motorized (SUN) Trail network.
  • Identify how to fill data gaps using Big Data such as StreetLight's Active Transportation Monitor in your region to evaluate active transportation investments and measure their impact.
