Come join local planners on a three hour guided orientation tour of your host cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. See buildings, streets, parks, and neighborhoods; learn about what shaped them, and get a glimpse of exciting future changes.
The tour will highlight a wide array of sites in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, including tourist draws (like the Spoonbridge and Cherry, Mary Tyler Moore House, and Stone Arch Bridge), historical sites (like Summit Avenue), natural attractions (like the lakes), major planning successes (like the Midtown Greenway, light rail, and rapid transit), works in progress (like the Ford Site redevelopment and the underutilized Union Depot), and major planning failures (like I-94). Along the way, tour guides will provide informative and interesting local context, explain what participants are seeing, and help newcomers better understand the places and plans that shaped the Twin Cities landscape.
Participants will see a wide array of urban contexts and forms, as well as planning projects in all types of practice. They will come away with a taste of new sights, sounds, and stories that highlight the Twin Cities in all their diversity.

understand the context of other mobile tours and sessions that have a local focus.
learn actionable lessons about what we've seen work and not work in terms of housing, transportation, parks, and other key planning areas.
